Veronika’s 6-month European Solidarity Corps experience has come to an end. She has spent the last half a year in Estonia, working with the local community of people with intellectual disabilities. Read what he has to share about her experience!🙂
Hi, I’m Veru. My volunteering journey in Maarja village, Estonia, has now come to an end after six unforgettable months. Looking back, I feel incredibly grateful for everything I experienced here.
During my last months, I had the chance to celebrate Jaanipäev, the magical midsummer holiday with a lot of folk dancing a huge fire and an outdoor concert. I even visited the beautiful island of Saaremaa with other volunteers and workers. These moments, together with many others, will stay with me for a long time.
Volunteering in Maarja village has truly changed the way I see people with intellectual disabilities. I learned how much patience, joy, and authenticity they bring into everyday life. This experience has also made me feel even more confident in the continuation of my studies in psychology.
I leave Estonia with a heart full of memories, friendships, and lessons that I will carry with me into the future.
