Call for Training Course Drop the Label:

14. – 20. April 2026 (including travel days)

Ogulin, Croatia

About the project

The training course Drop the Labels will take place from 14 to 20 April 2026 in Ogulin, Croatia, and will bring together 27 youth workers from nine European countries. Hosted in a small historic town in the heart of continental Croatia, the project creates an intensive international learning environment focused on challenging stereotypes, promoting inclusion and empowering youth workers to foster more open and accepting environments for young people in their communities.

The main objective of the training course is to strengthen the competences of youth workers in the field of social inclusion through the introduction of John Rawls’s “Veil of Ignorance” as a practical educational tool.

The training course is based on non-formal education methods, combining experiential learning, group work, reflection, and peer exchange. Participants will explore social inclusion from multiple perspectives, share experiences from their local contexts, and collaboratively develop ways to apply the Veil of Ignorance in youth work settings. Before the training, participants will complete preparatory tasks related to inclusion, equity, and good practices in their countries, ensuring a shared baseline for learning.

During the course, participants will actively co-create a new practical tool for youth work and develop concrete project ideas that can be implemented at local and international levels. The project aims to empower participants to become more effective facilitators of inclusive processes, increase awareness of social inequalities, and encourage young people to adopt more empathetic and inclusive attitudes. Through dissemination activities and follow-up workshops in their communities, the impact of the project will extend well beyond the training itself.

About Ogulin

Ogulin is a small historic town in central Croatia, known as the „town of fairy tales“ and the birthplace of the famous writer Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić. It is located in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by mountains, forests, and rivers, making it an ideal place for focused learning and informal gatherings. Despite its size, Ogulin has a rich history, a strong local community, and a peaceful atmosphere.

Accommodation

Heritage hotel Frankopan is located in the centre of Ogulin, the centre of continental Croatia. It is located next to the old Frankopan castle from the 16th century built by the noble family Frankopan. Opposite of the hotel, you can find Đula’s abyss, a hydrogeological monument of nature, where the river Dobra disappears under rocky cliffs in the enormous chasm in the city centre.

You will be accommodated in double or triple rooms, some roomes have a shared double bed which means that you may need to share a large bed with another person. The rooms are spacious and unique in their decoration, they exude history and classic elegance imbued with modern elements and conveniences. The rooms are equipped with a bathroom, shower, Wi-Fi connection and minibar. Unfortunately the hotel is not very accessible for people with physical disabilities as it is missing elevators and ramps for access to the rooms.

Meals: We will have breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as coffee breaks. Dietary needs will be taken into consideration. Please be sure to notify us if you have any special dietary requirements such as allergies, vegetarianism, intolerance etc. If you contact us early enough, we can make sure we think of everything!
