Call for International Seminar
EuroECO

2 – 8 December 2024 2024

Hondarribia | Spain

About the project

The aim of the seminar is to empower young people in environmental activism and engagement. By fostering the exchange of best practices, tools, and resources, the initiative supports youth involvement in ecological projects addressing climate change and sustainability. Through interactive workshops and peer-to-peer learning, participants will exchange insights and strategies gained from Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps projects, collaboratively enhancing the quality and impact of environmental initiatives throughout Europe.

The Objectives of the project are:

  • Increase awareness of the EU’s youth objectives
  • Highlight the Erasmus+ Youth and ESC programs, along with the tools developed and employed by European organizations in environmental projects
  • Provide a collaborative space for sharing ecologically sustainable projects, experiences, and best practices among Erasmus+ Youth and ESC program participants
  • Support program priorities in Inclusion, Environment and Sustainability, Digital Transition, and Youth Participation within Erasmus+ Youth and ESC projects
  • Facilitate discussions, analyses, and reflections on shared tools and experiences to boost the quality of future Erasmus+ Youth and ESC projects
  • Strengthen the network of partners actively involved in implementing sustainable Erasmus+ Youth and ESC projects

The venue & accommodation

Hondarribia is a town located on the western shore of the Bidasoa River’s mouth, in Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country, Spain.

This charming border town is perched on a small promontory overlooking Hendaye, France, across the scenic Txingudi Bay. A ferry service links the two towns, making travel easy and adding to the area’s appeal. Hondarribia boasts an ancient old quarter with historic walls and a castle, as well as a beach opposite the popular Sokoburu tourist estate in Hendaye. The nearby Jaizkibel mountain provides a stunning, hilly backdrop, and a road from the beach leads to Cape Higuer, a notable coastal feature of the area.

Hondarribia has approximately 17,018 residents.

Climate

In summer, maximum temperatures average between 23°C and 27°C, with occasional peaks during specific heat waves. Along the coast, average temperatures are closer to 20°C. Minimum temperatures range from 12°C to 16°C. We recommend checking the weather forecast before your trip to Hondarribia/San Sebastián to ensure you’re prepared with enough clothing for warm, mild, or cool days.

Participants will be accommodated at Juan Sebastian Elkano, located in one of the most beautiful seaside towns in Euskadi, Hondarribia. Here is the link to the accommodation: https://www.gipuzkoa.eus/eu/web/gazteria/ekipamenduak/aterpetxeak/hondarribiko-aterpetxea.
